DFF Establishes Footprint in Mexico - Expands Product Offerings

Fruitland, Idaho — March 18, 2010

In order to offer our customers an expanded range of products and to diversify production to assure a continuous supply chain for customers, Dickinson Frozen Foods (DFF) is pleased to announce a joint venture and technical services agreement with Cogeladora Horticula (CH Foods) of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora Mexico.  CH Foods operates a state of the art IQF vegetable processing facility that will allow DFF to expand services, increase products offered, and provide a geographically ideal option for year round supply to its customers.  Butch Wilson, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DFF said, “This venture with CH Foods is a leap forward in the products we offer our customers and includes the same exceptional service DFF has always provided.  This endeavor represents seasonal flexibility, a wide array of products, and the advantage of having one trusted supplier for our customers.  By teaming up with CH Foods, DFF now has the way and means to have continued growth and increase our offerings to our customers throughout the entire year.”

In addition to its current, traditional Grown in the USA line of fall crops produced in the Fruitland operation, DFF now carries IQF processed poblanos, jalapeños, yellow squash, yellow and green zucchini, and other items to complement our expanding portfolio of customized IQF vegetables and blends.  These new items increase DFF’s product portfolio to a very helpful and appealing mix for our customers. In addition, the venture with CH Foods’ allows DFF to continue to grow and expand despite constraints at its Fruitland Plant.  Paul Fox, President and CEO of DFF said, “Some of the new items, and our extended pepper production, can be challenging to the wastewater treatment system at our Fruitland Plant.  We anticipate continued, long-term growth in onion and pepper production in Fruitland, as such, reallocating volume and mix to Mexico and reducing the need for wastewater capacity in our Fruitland operation was essential until a new municipal treatment system is built.  In the meantime, DFF will continue to process locally grown vegetables in Fruitland.”

Dickinson Frozen Foods is the nation’s leading manufacturer and marketer of IQF processed onions and roasted potatoes.  Now with locations in Fruitland, Idaho; Sugar City, Idaho; and Ciudad Obregon, Sonora Mexico, DFF is also a market-leader in processed squash, peppers and customized vegetable blends in addition to specialty potato products.  DFF is dedicated to making a positive difference by being the most inspired and dependable food company through our caring culture and honest dealings with all people.
